Impaired driving charges follow crash in Belle River

An 18-year-old from Lakeshore faces impaired driving charges after a crash in Belle River.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the crash was on 1st Street near Railway Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. last Friday.

Officers arrested the driver, and now they face charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and having a blood-alcohol concentration over the legal limit.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on January 21.

Police suspended the driver's license for 90 days and impounded their vehicle for a week.
