WE-SPARK presents research grants totaling over $412K

A group of research projects will be able to proceed thanks to grant funding from WE-SPARK Health Institute.

The health partnership involving Windsor-Essex health systems, the University of Windsor, and St. Clair College has awarded research grants to 20 local groups, totaling $412,714.

WE-SPARK Interim Director Doctor Dora Cavallo-Medved said there has been a steady increase in grant applications by worthy local groups.

"People are seeing the impact of the investment and are eager to make use of this opportunity," said Cavallo-Medved. "These grants not only create jobs but also address pressing issues and position Windsor-Essex as a strong competitor in national funding competitions. The growing number of applications reflects the community's recognition of the importance of these grants in driving meaningful change."

The grants will involve over support 140 researchers, trainees, and thousands of participants. They will support early-stage, innovative health research and education projects, aiming to address healthcare gaps, spark new ideas, and foster collaborations.

The projects will launch in September. Complete information can be found on the official WE-SPARK Health Institute website.
