Amherstburg names new fire chief

The Amherstburg Fire Department has named its next chief.

Michael Mio will take over the role this fall when Chief Bruce Montone retires.

Mio has worked with Windsor Fire and Rescue Services since 1994. He has advanced through the ranks and is currently Assistant Chief of the Fire and Rescue Division.

He also works with the Office of the Fire Marshall as a lead evaluator and holds certifications in emergency management, incident management, Blue Card Command as well as many NFPA certifications.

Mio will start on September 16, 2024.
