The City of Windsor has hired a new City Engineer and Commissioner of Infrastructure Services.
David Simpson was the Director of Public Workers in Oxford County and managed significant infrastructure projects in the Halton Region.
He starts his new job on July 8.
Simpson will take over from Mark Winterton, who came out of retirement to manage the portfolio after Mayor Drew Dilkens used his strong mayor powers to fire Chris Nepszy last year.
Nepszy is suing the city for wrongful dismissal in a lawsuit that claims $1.55-million in damages.
"The role of City Engineer and Commissioner of Infrastructure Services is a key position in our corporate leadership team, particularly as we are focused on building Windsor's future," said Dilkens. "Mr Simpson's vast experience in the municipal sector and across many intersecting municipal portfolios makes him a welcome addition."
The city hired Simpson after a rigorous selection process.
