Suspect sought in south Windsor robbery

Windsor police hope someone can help identify a suspect in a south-end robbery this past weekend.

Officers were called around 9 a.m. Saturday to a business on Dougall Avenue near Norfolk Street. Police said someone entered the establishment, smashed a display case with a hammer, and stole a large quantity of items.

The suspect then drove off in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck.

"Approximately 15 minutes after the robbery, the vehicle was tracked to the area of Provincial Road at Howard Avenue, prior to heading southbound toward Walker Road," read a tweet from Windsor police. "The truck was further described as having no front license plate, light-coloured wheel rims, a spare tire within the bed of the truck, as well as a trailer hitch."

A surveillance camera image of the suspect has been released, and police have asked residents to take a look.

Anyone with information should call Windsor police's Major Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
