The City of Windsor has received its latest cheque from Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG).
Windsor has received a payment of $1,991,973 for hosting Caesars Windsor in the fourth quarter of 2023.
"For decades, profits from gaming have been an important source of funding for Ontario communities, helping to deliver vital services and making a real difference for gaming host municipalities," said Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy. "This is one of the many different ways Ontario continues to create good-paying, local jobs that play a critical role in supporting our economy while ensuring a socially responsible gaming environment for people to enjoy."
The quarterly payments the City of Windsor receives for hosting the sprawling gaming and entertainment complex are computed through a formula applied to all the province's gaming sites, using a graduated scale of revenue at the host property.
During the OLG fiscal year, which ran from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, the City of Windsor received $9,878,268.
Since the current gaming site opened in May 1994, Windsor has received $92,317,774.
