The Towns of Amherstburg and Essex are ready to present conceptual plans for Co-An Park to the public.
Residents can get a look at a public meeting on Tuesday at the McGregor Community Centre on Walker Road in Essex.
"We encourage all residents to share their input and participate in shaping the future of Co-An Park," said Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy. "Your input will help create a space that reflects the collective vision of our unique communities."
The conceptual plans are based on previous public feedback and will be available on the project webpage. Residents can also participate in an online survey starting Thursday and ending April 23.
The process has been a long one. It started in September 2022 when Essex approached its neighbour, Amherstburg, about redeveloping the park.
Co-An Park on Concession 11 in McGregor was founded in 1977 by the Township of Anderdon and Colchester North. Amherstburg and Essex assumed joint ownership when they amalgamated Anderdon and Colchester North.
The 15.9-hectare park boasts six baseball diamonds, three soccer fields, two tennis courts, a playground, a pavilion, and a canteen, and is home to the soon-to-expand Essex County Steam and Gas Engine Museum.
Municipal planners anticipate residential development around the park to grow significantly in the coming years.
