OPP blitz turns up defects on 12 commercial vehicles

The Ontario Provincial Police took 12 commercial vehicles off the road and laid 45 charges during a commercial vehicle inspection blitz.

The OPP, partnered with the LaSalle Police Service and the Ministry of Transportation, conducted the blitz on Hwy. 3 in Tecumseh on Monday.

They removed the plates from one vehicle.

In all, 26 vehicles were inspected.

"Operating a commercial motor vehicle with major defects can be extremely dangerous to everyone on the road," said the OPP.

Police found defects like a flat tire and broken leaf springs. One driver had the wrong class of licence, while another didn't have a valid commercial vehicle operators' registration.
