Windsor police stop break and enter

Two women have been arrested by the Windsor Police Service after officers interrupted a break and enter.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday police responded to a security alarm at a business in the city's east end.

When officers arrived at the scene of Tecumseh Road East and Rivard Avenue they found the businesses doors and windows secured but a loud noise was heard from a nearby residence.

Police then looked through the window of the home and spotted two women, both dressed in black, rummaging through cabinets and drawers.

According to police, the door to the home was open with multiple tools and other items were scattered on the ground nearby.

Officer said one suspect was taken into custody when she exited the property while the other tried to flee but was arrested shortly after a brief foot pursuit.

A 40 year-old woman and a 37 year-old woman have been charged with break and enter with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
