Gordie Howe International Bridge deck slowly coming together

Slowly but surely, construction at the Gordie Howe International Bridge is approaching an important milestone.

The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA), which oversees the bridge project, released a photo this week of construction on the bridge deck. As of Tuesday, the two sides were 139.5 metres apart or 457.6 feet.

Construction has been progressing on the deck that will hold the roadway and the multi-use paths that will be used. Work had begun on both the Windsor and Detroit sides and has continued over the Detroit River.

The WDBA hopes to have the two sides meet sometime this summer.

Completion of the span, the largest ongoing infrastructure project in Canada, is slated for early fall 2025.
