Public board reaches tentative deal with some employees

A tentative contract has been reached between the local English public school board and the union representing some of its employees.

The Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) announced Thursday morning that a tentative deal was reached with language and employment services employees represented by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) District 9.

"The tentative agreement was arrived at through a collaborative process and represents the best possible outcome for all parties," read a statement from the board. "This agreement, once ratified, will provide stability and security for this employee group and the board."

There was no word on when a ratification vote will take place. The terms of the contract will remain confidential until the deal is approved.

The agreement covers the four years between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2026.
