Windsor Police have charged a 29-year-old driver after a crash caused a natural gas leak, forcing the evacuation of a home in Amherstburg.
Police responded to the crash around 5:30 p.m. on Monday on County Road 17 between Baseline Road and North Talbot Road.
On the scene, officers learned a vehicle attempted to pass a line of other vehicles, lost control, and hit a gas meter.
Paramedics took the driver and three underage passengers to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash shut down that section of County Road 17 for several hours while firefighters from Windsor Fire and Rescue Services contained the gas leak.
The driver is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance.
