The City of Windsor has put out the call for nominees for the 2024 Windsor Mayor's Arts Awards.
The Windsor Endowment for the Arts (WEA) is pairing up with the City to present the next edition, set for Friday, May 31, at Mackenzie Hall.
The Mayor's Arts Awards recognize people and groups that support the Windsor arts scene. Only Windsor residents are eligible for the Mayor's Awards.
"I am pleased to once again partner with WEA to present our awards together in a meaningful way that celebrates a broad spectrum of artists, arts organizations, and creatives," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "These programs provide a further opportunity to support, encourage, and recognize our local artists while building on Windsor’s proud history of investment in our creative community."
The nomination period is underway in three categories, individual artists, arts organizations, and arts volunteers. Prizes include a monetary award and a keepsake award.
The WEA grants are open to all City of Windsor and Essex County residents. Nominations are open for grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, plus four Arts Leadership Awards of Merit, in the categories of community arts, literary arts, performing arts, and visual arts.
Nominations for both the WEA grants and the Mayor's Arts Awards are open online. The nomination period closes on March 31.
