Suspect arrested for multiple assault charges

A woman is recovering from a fractured leg and other injuries after jumping out of a window to escape an attacker.

Windsor police were called to Elm Street early Saturday for reports of an injured person.

When they arrived, police found a woman suffering from a fractured leg. Police were told a man broke into the woman's apartment and confined her to the bedroom. The victim reported she was strangled and struck several times before the man threatened to kill her. When the man left the bedroom, the victim jumped out the window to escape.

Police quickly located a suspect on Curry Avenue.

Police said the victim and suspect were previously involved in an intimate partner relationship.

A 25-year-old man was charged with assault, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, break and enter, forcible confinement, uttering threats, unlawfully being in a house and breach of probation.
