French Language Catholic school expands childcare

Parents in Windsor will soon have another option for child care

Ecole elementaire catholique Saint-Edmond in Windsor can expand its childcare spaces and take younger children.

The province announced $1.24-million in funding for Conseil scolaire catholique Providence, the French language Catholic school board in this region, to expand child care, and the Windsor school will get another 15 spaces.

It currently only offers care for children 2.5 to five years old and school-aged children. With the funding, it can take those as young as 18 months.

"This expansion project will enable us to better serve our French-speaking Catholic school communities in the Windsor area," said Acting Director of Education Carolyn Bastien. "The addition of daycare spaces is essential to the development of the French and Catholic identity of our region's children."
