Arson in Leamington under investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police are looking for at least one suspect after an intentionally set fire in Leamington.

Firefighters were called to a house on Wigle Street, south of Mill Street East, around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday after flames erupted at the bottom of a staircase.

The home contains three rental units, and the fire caused $15,000 in damage.

Police believe the suspects left the scene southbound on Wigle from Mill Street East and ask nearby residents to check their security cameras for evidence.

Anyone with information can call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, but firefighters rescued two residents from a second-floor window.

On Tuesday, fire officials said charges were pending against the property owner because there were no working smoke alarms or CO2 detectors in the units.
