HDGH gets top marks in accreditation survey

Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare in Windsor has the highest designation with Accreditation Canada, Accredited with Exemplary Standing.

Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates the quality of care, value for healthcare dollars, and accountability.

It conducted an on-site survey at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare last month. The hospital met 100 per cent of the required organizational practices and 98.99 per cent of Accreditation Canada standards.

The hospital was also awarded the Health Service Organization Leading Practices Award for its Essential/Designated Care Partner Program. It supported family visitation during COVID-19 and now helps families provide hands-on care for their loved ones during their stay.

"This award designation is the result of our collective commitments and efforts," said CEO and President Bill Marra. "Despite the challenges and hurdles faced throughout the past four years since our last survey, our organization has stayed true to the mission and values of HDGH, the high-quality care we have become known for, and the partner the community relies on."

The Accreditation report identified several areas of strength, including the Patient Experience Framework, Centre of Excellence in Mental Health and Addictions, and Patient and Family Advisory Councils and Family Advisors.
