Windsor police make arrest in suspected credit card fraud

Windsor police say a man has been charged after a woman reported her purse stolen.

Investigators took a complaint from the victim after her purse was stolen from a parked vehicle on Pratt Place near Riverside Drive East.

Police soon learned someone had been showing up at various businesses and paying for items with the woman's stolen credit cards.

On Tuesday morning, police announced that a 39-year-old man had been arrested. He was already on probation for fraud and theft-related charges.

The man is charged with possession of stolen property, using a stolen credit card, fraud under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order.

The charges have yet to be proven in court.

Anyone with information on this or any other fraud case should call the Windsor police's Financial Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4330. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
