OPP find drugs and weapons, charge three suspects

The Ontario Provincial Police found about $64,000 worth of what they believe is fentanyl and cocaine while searching two homes in Leamington last Thursday.

Leamington OPP officers, the Lambton County Community OPP Street Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team, and the canine unit searched houses on Cambridge Crescent and Sherman Street.

Investigators also seized property, including a semi-automatic handgun, an oversized prohibited magazine, and ammunition.

A 24-year-old from Hamilton faces a list of weapons charges, including possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and careless storage of a firearm. Police also laid possession for the purpose of trafficking charges for the drugs.

A 34-year-old and a 26-year-old from Leamington also face weapons and drug trafficking charges.

The three were released from police custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 20.
