The Town of Amherstburg is looking for innovative developers to transform the historic Belle Vue National Historic Site.
The town has issued a request for expressions of interest for development on the nine-acre site.
There are three avenues that proposals can fall under. One would be that the proposal would restore the manor, and leave it with the town in exchange for use of the rest of the property.
The second avenue would be redeveloping the manor for a specific purpose, with the town maintaining ownership.
The third avenue includes the redevelopment of the land and the manor which includes some kind of public access to the space.
"Recognizing not everybody may want the manor at the end of the day but they may only want the back portion so I think that they've provided great opportunities for people to be as creative as they want to be for those particular lands," said Melissa Osborne, deputy CAO and director of development services.
Submissions will be accepted until August 16, 2023. They will be reviewed and presented to council in the fall.
The town purchased the historic site in September 2017 and launched a fund raising campaign to restore the ailing home.
The Belle Vue House dates back to the War of 1812 and served as a home for veterans who fought during World War One.
