Impaired driving charge laid after lawnmower used at restaurant drive-thru

The Ontario Provincial Police want to remind the public it doesn't matter if you get behind the wheel of a truck, car, fishing boat, canoe, or lawnmower. If you are impaired, you'll face impaired driving charges.

A 41-year-old Leamington man found out the hard way after an OPP officer spotted someone on a riding lawnmower leaving the drive-thru of a restaurant on Talbot Street West in Leamington.

When the officer stopped the man on the lawnmower early Sunday morning, he realized the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and taken back to the detachment for further testing.

The suspect faces two impaired driving charges and will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice judge in Windsor next month.

Anyone who spots an impaired driver can call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or dial *OPP on their mobile device.
