Strong winds from the east have prompted the Essex Region Conservation Authority to issue a warning about shoreline erosion and high waves along the shores of Lake Erie.
The forecast calls for sustained wind speeds over 50 kilometres per hour with gusts reaching up to 80 km/hr.
"Due to the forecasted weather conditions, there is the possibility of nearshore erosion with wave overtopping and spray," the statement read. "In areas of direct wave attack, there is also the possibility for damage to shoreline structures."
The statement will remain in place until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
"People are encouraged to take extra caution to avoid areas where flooding is occurring as well as rivers, streams, and shoreline areas during significant rainfall and wind events," read the statement.
ERCA officials will continue to monitor conditions as they change, and issue upgraded advisories as required.
