Wyandotte Town Centre BIA hires night time security

To prevent break-ins and vandalism, the Wyandotte Town Centre BIA hired a private security firm to patrol the area at night.

"They're just keeping an eye on things. If there are any major incidents, they call the police and wait for the police to come. But it's an extra set of eyes when merchants go home for the evening," said BIA Chair Larry Horwitz.

The BIA spent $6,000 on the three-month pilot program.

"Our goal is, in the end, to make it secure and make it attractive for businesses to locate up and down Wyandotte Street," said Horwitz.

The private security firm has already been patrolling the area for around a month. Horwitz said they are keeping track of all of the incidents, and if the program is successful, they will consider extending the term with the security firm.
