OPP search for driver after elderly woman hit by vehicle

The Ontario Provincial Police in Leamington hopes the driver of a vehicle that struck a 72-year-old woman will come forward.

Police officers and paramedics responded to the incident on Erie Street South near Pulford Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fortunately, the woman's injuries were not serious, but paramedics took her to the hospital.

Police said the driver did not stay at the scene, and the best description they have of the vehicle is that it is "dark-coloured."

Investigators hope the driver will contact them as soon as possible.

They also hope any witnesses, including anyone driving in the area who has dashcam footage, will call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.catchcrooks.com.
