Driver seriously injured while fleeing from police

The provincial police watchdog is looking for witnesses to a crash involving the Ontario Provincial Police in Kingsville.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, a 28-year-old driver was fleeing from police on December 10 when the vehicle crashed and the driver was seriously injured.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. on Highway 3 between Cameron Side Road and Marsh Road. The driver was taken to the hospital and remains there to this day.

The SIU has assigned three investigators, one forensic investigator, and one collision reconstructionst to review the incident.

Investigators are urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including dash cam footage, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
