UPDATE: Man arrested following east Windsor standoff

A standoff in an east Windsor neighbourhood has ended with one man arrested.

Windsor police were called around 12:30 p.m. Thursday to a home on Copperfield Place, off Little River Acres Drive. It was later determined that someone had barricaded themselves inside a home.

The standoff went on for over six hours until a man was taken into custody without incident.

No additional information was provided on how the incident began.

Police had not only closed Copperfield Place, but also the eastbound lanes of Little River Acres Drive. The area was reopened around 7 p.m. Thursday.

The apparent standoff is not related to a fatal shooting that took place earlier this week on Hanna Street East near Parent Avenue, police said.

There was no danger to the public, but people were asked to stay away from the area until the matter is resolved.
