TV thieves picked up quickly by the OPP

Ontario Provincial Police officers did not have to go far to arrest two suspected thieves in Leamington.

Police say officers from the Leamington attachment were called shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to a business on Talbot Street East near Lutsch Avenue for a shoplifting complaint. Officers were told that two people entered the business, took two television sets, then walked out without paying.

Other OPP officers were nearby working on a separate investigation when the two men walked up an alley. When they saw the officers, they quickly dropped the TVs and started walking away. The suspects were recognized and arrested, according to Constable Steven Duguay.

A 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, both from Leamington, were charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000.

The pair was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor. The charges have not been proven in court.
