The Windsor Police Service has come across a photo of a potential suspect linked to an investigation involving a dog that died from injuries sustained after going missing Friday.
On July 29, the owner of a dog on Janette Avenue reported their dog missing to the Humane Society. The owner suspected their dog got out between 4 a.m. and 6 p.m. last Friday morning. At around 4 p.m. the same day, the dog was found hiding under a tree on Caron Avenue. The animal was injured and taken to an animal hospital where it later died from its injuries.
The Humane Society reported the incident to the police and an investigation was launched.
On Wednesday, police released a photo of a possible suspect.
The person of interest, described as a man with long, dark hair, a medium build, between the ages of 40-50 was observed walking near the area of Janette Avenue and Bruce Avenue.
Investigators are asking anyone with surveillance video in the area of Janette Avenue between Park and Wyandotte streets to check their footage from last Friday between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. for possible evidence.
