Leamington's council goes hybrid

Following a successful test run, Leamington's Municipal Council is moving to a hybrid format of in-person and remote meetings.

The first was on July 12. Some attended in-person, while others took part virtually.

"The hybrid meeting format makes public meetings more accessible to a larger audience of residents and stakeholders," said Mayor Hilda MacDonald.

The municipality enhanced its audio and visual meeting equipment and reconfigured council chambers to make the experience seamless.

The public can still watch the live stream of council meetings on the municipal website.

Leamington Municipal Council meets again on July 26. Councillors will get a report on the Silver Creek Drain and hear a presentation about the former Leamington District Secondary School property.

Earlier this month, Windsor announced it would return to in-person meetings almost exclusively. They'll only be held on zoom if requested or required under public health measures. The deadline to make a request is noon on Friday before the meeting.
