Police say commercial property fire is suspicious

Windsor police are looking for information on a fire that damaged several commercial vehicles over the weekend.

Officers were called around 4:30 a.m. Saturday to a business on County Road 42 near Concession Road 8 on a report of a fire on the property. Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were already on scene, tackling a fire that involved five large commercial vehicles, including a dump truck and a tractor-trailer.

The investigation uncovered information that suggested the fire was set on purpose, and the Windsor police's arson unit was brought in. The Forensic Identification Unit also was on hand to process the scene.

Police determined that the fire was likely set just before 4 a.m. Saturday.

Anyone with a security camera system in the area is asked to check for any footage from 3 a.m. containing suspicious activity, including people or vehicles.

Windsor police are working with fire officials and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal on this investigation.

Anyone with information should call the Windsor police arson unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4330. Anonymous tips may be provided to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
