A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a break-and-enter in Amherstburg on Tuesday afternoon.
Windsor police said it happened shortly before 4 p.m. when officers in the Amherstburg detachment responded to a burglary on Simcoe Street near Fryer Street. The homeowner told police that a man had broken into the house while the owner was in the backyard. When the owner confronted the suspect, the man ran.
Constable Bianca Jackson said that someone matching the suspect's description was found by officers a short time later and taken into custody.
The man, of no fixed address, is charged with break and enter, and possession of stolen property. The charges have not been proven in court.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with a home or business on Simcoe between Fryer Street and Pacific Avenue to check their security camera footage and call them if they find anything unusual. Investigators are also asking people who were driving in the area to check their dashcams.
