Tecumseh high school clear after hold-and-secure

Ontario Provincial Police say there is no danger after a Tecumseh secondary school was put in hold-and-secure Thursday afternoon.

Officers from the OPP Tecumseh detachment responded around 1:30 p.m. to L'Essor Secondary School on St. Gregory's Road. Investigators had received a report that a youth had made a comment in relation to the school.

Constable Steven Duguay said the youth was immediately found and questioned. Officers determined that the youth did not have a weapon on them, nor posed any threat to students or staff.

L'Essor Secondary was put under hold-and-secure as a precaution, but it was lifted around 2 p.m.

No criminal charges are being filed, according to the OPP, and the matter will be dealt with internally by the school.
