There will be another option for Windsor-Essex snowbirds to fly to warmer climates later this year.
Mayor Drew Dilkens and Windsor Airport CEO Mark Galvin announced Wednesday that Flair Airlines, a Canadian budget carrier, has opened a hub at Tuscon International Airport in Arizona, and will utilize it to bring Canadians to that state starting this November and December.

"Basing winter operations in Tucson, Arizona offers an exciting new option for Canadians. We know that Canadians in communities across the country will be keen to soak up the winter sun in Tucson," said Flair Chief Commercial Officer Garth Lund. "With consistent service for years to come, we think this is the beginning of an excellent yearly tradition for Canadians. Flair is looking forward to stimulating new demand with our everyday low fares."
YQG has been chosen as one of five Canadian destinations. The other four are Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Lethbridge, and Prince George. Flair also opened sales for the five routes on Tuesday.
"We are excited to welcome Flair Airlines to YQG, and are thrilled to add a direct flight from Windsor to the Sun Corridor of the United States," said Windsor Airport CEO Mark Galvin.
Initial one-way airfares will begin at $99, nonstop.
