Windsor City Council will consider a plan to improve streetscaping within the Pillette Village Business Improvement Area during Monday's city council meeting.
The plan includes banner poles, address markers, new planters, bike racks, and new trash and recycling receptacles.
"They're going to provide an exciting change in the shopping experience for customers," said Ward 6 Councillor Jo-Anne Gignac. "Small businesses are the backbone of any successful community and neighbourhood, and I am very excited to be working with the Pillette Village businesses to enhance their district and implement their new look."
The project cost of $320,000 will be split between the City of Windsor and the Pillette Village BIA.
If approved by council, the installation would start in the fall of 2022 depending on manufacturing time.
"The area is quite excited about this and it's a long time coming. The businesses and property owners have thrown their support behind it financially because we have to foot 50 per cent of the bill," said BIA Chair Bridget Schuerman. "They are most anxious to see this because we have been talking about it for four years now and now is the time."
