No charges after OPP catch driver headed the wrong way on Hwy. 401

It was extremely dangerous, and it could have been so much worse, but an elderly woman is safe after Ontario Provincial Police officers stopped a vehicle going the wrong way on Hwy. 401.

Police got a number of calls around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday reporting a driver going westbound in the eastbound lanes in Windsor.

Traffic was heavy at the time.

The 86-year-old woman behind the wheel told officers she drove down the wrong ramp and didn't know what to do.

If you find yourself in the same situation, police suggest pulling over immediately.

The woman will be referred for a driver's license evaluation.
