A Windsor-based figure skater has brought home silver to add to her medal collection.
Katherine Karon, who skates with the Riverside Skating Club, brought home the silver medal in the junior women's category last weekend at the 2022 Skate Canada Challenge, held in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Karon's final score was 142.30, having placed third in the short program on Friday, then provided the fourth-best free skate in the category on Saturday.
It's the second straight silver medal in this qualifying cycle for Karon. She was second on the podium last month following the 2022 Skate Ontario Championships in Milton.

She will now join the other top-18 women, top-18 men, 12 pairs teams and 15 ice dancing teams at the 2022 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships, which will take place at TD Place in Ottawa from January 6 to January 13, 2022.
Karon was not the only junior performer to represent the Riverside Skating Club in Regina. Julia Young placed 33rd out of a field of 46 in the pre-novice women's category. Jonathan Guo, who was scheduled to compete in the junior men's category, withdrew according to the official results.
The championships in Ottawa will determine Team Canada's representatives on the 2022 Olympic team in Beijing, China. Competitors will also go for spots in the 2022 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, the 2022 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, and the 2022 ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
