Classes sent home from two more Windsor-Essex schools

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed classes from two elementary schools due to positive COVID-19 cases.

One class apiece was sent home from St. Andre French Immersion Catholic Elementary in Tecumseh, and Stella Maris Catholic Elementary in Amherstburg, after each reported one COVID-19 case. Students have been told not to come to school Thursday and learn from home until further notice.

"The health unit will notify those students when they are able to return to school," said board spokesman Stephen Fields. "We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected."

The announcement of the two schools Wednesday comes a day after two classes and a bus cohort were dismissed from St. John Evangelist Catholic Elementary in Woodslee.

Students should self-monitor for symptoms, and if they feel ill, get a COVID-19 test and contact their health care provider for further instructions.

The English Catholic school board currently has 11 schools with active dismissals, 21 active students cases, and three staff cases.
