LaSalle police investigate threat against school

No charges have been filed after a Catholic high school in LaSalle was the target of an alleged threat.

LaSalle police say officials at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Secondary School contacted them on Wednesday afternoon to report that the school had received a verbal threat.

Officers soon arrived at the school and after an investigation, determined that the threat was not credible.

Senior Constable Terry Seguin said the school followed the proper procedure by giving the police a call.

"School officials take any threats seriously and will always contact police to report the threat," said Seguin. "After the police had concluded their investigation, school administration sent notifications to school staff and the entire school community about the issue via voice messaging [Wednesday] evening."

LaSalle officers were present at the school Thursday morning as a precaution, with the school day going off without a hitch. Police did not rule out the possibility of charges being laid in the future.
