Outbreak declared at another French Catholic elementary school

A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Georges P. Vanier French Catholic elementary school.

A letter sent home to parents stated additional cases of the virus have been identified in one of the cohorts already dismissed by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit.

The school remains open at this time.  An outbreak in a school is declared by the health unit when there is evidence of transmission at the school between two or more cases.

All members of the school community who have not been contacted by the school or the health unit can continue their regular activities.

There are five other schools experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak, including École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Ursule, St. Andre French Immersion Catholic School, Ford City Public School, Al-Hijra Academy and St. Joseph’s Catholic High School.  All schools remain open.

Parents of all school-aged children are encouraged to check for symptoms of COVID-19 each morning before school. If they are sick, they should stay home and contact a health care provider for further instructions.
