OPP identify driver involved in Leamington hit-and-run

Ontario Provincial Police say they have identified a driver allegedly involved in a crash that injured a teenager.

It happened around noon Tuesday at the intersection of Erie Street South and Mill Street East in Leamington. According to police, a 13-year-old riding a bicycle was struck by a pickup truck, which was then driven off.

The teen was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to OPP Constable Steven Duguay.

Police located the pickup truck involved in the collision and have identified the driver, who as of Wednesday afternoon, has not been charged.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not spoken with police is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
