New COVID-19 cases at five public schools

Students from five public schools in Windsor-Essex have been dismissed after new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at their schools.

The Greater Essex County District School Board reported the new cases on Thursday at Dougall Avenue Public School, Forest Glade Public School, Queen Victoria Public School, Sandwich West Public School, and at the Trillium Learning Centre at the Connaught Centre.

For Dougall Avenue and Sandwich West, the infections are the second in recent days.  Dougall Avenue reported a case on Monday and Sandwich West had an infection on September 12.

The parents of all the students impacted have been notified by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

The school board did not say how many cohorts were sent home.
