The Municipality of Leamington reminds residents starting September 1, they need to apply for an open-air burn permit if they plan to hold a small backyard campfire or clean their yard of brush.

Because of the pandemic, Leamington was accepting expired burn permits.

Permits can be bought online on the municipality's website. It will take two or three days to process, and first-time applicants will have to undergo an inspection before approval.

Residents who have any questions about open-air burning or are concerned about the size of their burn pile can call Leamington Fire Services at 519-326-6291.

Anyone with a complaint about open-air burning can contact Fire Dispatch at 519-326-4431.
