Only three new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit had just three new COVID-19 cases to report Tuesday morning.

Of the three, two people caught the virus in the community, while the third was infected during close contact with another confirmed case.

Across the region on Tuesday, there were 25 active infections, three of which involve a variant of concern, and there are no COVID-19-positive patients in the hospital.

The region does have a new workplace outbreak, an agricultural company in Kingsville.

So far, 245,850 people in Windsor-Essex, or 67.2 per cent of the population, are fully vaccinated, compared to 68.7 per cent across Ontario.

The province reported 129 new cases and five deaths from the virus.

The number of active cases province-wide continues to tick downwards with 1,395, a drop of 34.
