Ten people displaced after fire in east Windsor

Windsor firefighters say tenants living above a convenience store on Albert Road were evacuated after a fire broke out Friday afternoon.

Crews were called to the corner of Albert Road and Richmond Street around noon for an upgraded fire at a residential building also containing Richmond Variety Store.

Firefighters managed to quickly contain the fire and had the blaze out just before 1 p.m.

The area was temporarily closed to traffic while crews worked to extinguish the fire.

An investigator was called to the scene and determined the cause to be electrical.

Everyone got out safely and no one was injured during the incident. 10 tenants in total were displaced by the fire.

Officials say the damage estimate is around $250,000.
