Woman turns herself in for hit and run

A Windsor woman has turned herself into the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police after allegedly striking an elderly man on Highway 3 and leaving the scene.

The 89-year-old man was hit around 11:30 p.m. on April 13 near County Road 34 in the Town of Kingsville. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

OPP officers launched an investigation into the collision and began searching for the driver involved. They believed a dark coloured Honda was involved in the crash.

On April 20, a 55-year-old woman from Windsor went to the OPP office. She was arrested and charged with failing to stop at an accident causing bodily harm. The charges have not been proven in court.
