UPDATE: One dead after fire on Church Street.

A person has died following a large blaze at a home on Church Street Sunday night.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews and the Windsor Police Service were called to the home between Park Street and Karl Place around 9:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire conditions.  Less than ten minutes later, firefighters requested additional crews and called in a third alarm.  Firefighters continued to battle the blaze with an exterior attack.

The Windsor Police Service reported two people were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 59-year-old man later died from his injuries.

The Windsor Police Service Major Crimes and Arson Unit are also actively investigating the blaze. Investigators are asking anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check the footage for any suspicious persons or activity around the time of the incident.
