Windsor extends emergency child care for school children

Ontario has approved an extension to funding Windsor's emergency childcare plan for school-aged children.

The program was initially to run from January 4-8, but will now be extended until January 22.

Manager of Children's Services, Dawn Bosco explained the funding is being provided to support health care and other frontline workers whose children are enrolled in school.

Eligible families are entitled to free childcare while elementary schools remain virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday, Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced that the province is also expanding the eligibility for its emergency childcare service.

More details and a list of those who qualify can be found here.
