COVID-19 case at Westgate Public School

An official at the Greater Essex County District School Board has confirmed a case of COVID-19 at Westgate Public School in Windsor.

Public Relations Officer Scott Scantlebury confirmed the case Thursday morning.

"All affected students and staff have been notified and are following the directions of the health unit," said Scantlebury. "There has been communication with families."

He said the public school board does not issue notices to the general public about cases of COVID-19 in schools.

However, a section of the board's website lists it as the second case in a week at Westgate.

The first case dates back to November 13. This latest case was confirmed Wednesday.

There are a total of 16 confirmed cases at Greater Essex County District School Boards.

On Tuesday night, the board shut down Begley Public School until further notice after three staff members tested positive for the virus.
