Windsor pretty bird chosen for PetValue 2021 calendar

A very pretty bird from Windsor will grace PetValue's 2021 charity calendar.

"Lemon" was chosen after her owner, Parveen Razvi, submitted a photo of "her special little creature" perched on top of a small Halloween Jack O Lantern toy.

"She is very photogenic," said Razvi. "It's one of her favourite toys, so it's out year-round. It just happened she sat on it, and I took the photo."

Razvi said she noticed a posting on Facebook and did not hesitate, especially after learning the calendar raises money for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Lemon's photo was one of 60,000 entries this year.

The three-year-old budgie can also talk, using phrases like "please," "hey, Siri," and "pretty bird." She can also mimic the sounds of kisses, zippers, typing and text tones.

The calendar features 17 photos of Canadian pets, including cats, dogs, a hamster, and a hedgehog.

Lemon's photo graces the month of October.
