Driver not facing charges after striking pedestrian on County Road 22

The driver in a serious crash involving a skateboarder in Lakeshore will not face charges, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

The OPP, Lakeshore Fire Service, and paramedics were called to a stretch of County Road 22 in Belle River around 7:30 p.m. on Friday after a vehicle struck a pedestrian on a skateboard.

The driver told police he spotted two cyclists on the side of the road, but not the skateboarder.

The crash shut down County Road 22 between County Road 42 and County Road 2.

Meanwhile, the victim remains in the hospital.
